Manchester City and Robinho on Thursday beat Aalborg by two goals in the UEFA Cup.

Manchester City won the game through goals from Felipe Caceido and Shaun Wright-Phillips and should have won with a larger margin, but the lead should be sufficient enough for the return leg and qualify Manchester City for the quarterfinals for the first time in 20 years.

Robinho made the assist for Manchester City's first goal and later on should have been awarded a penalty when he was tripped by Aalborg's Michael Beauchamp.

Robinho, who on Thursday was selected for the Brazilian national teams World Cup qualification matches against Ecuador and Peru this month, play his next match on Sunday in London against Chelsea.
